Health Insurance Marketplace 2016 Open Enrollment period, which begins November 1st.<\/p>\n

Health Insurance Eligibility Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

To sign up for Obamacare, you have to be a U.S. citizen or have one of the following immigration statuses:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR\/Green Card holder)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Someone who\u2019s been granted political asylum
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Refugee
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Cuban\/Haitian entrant
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Someone who\u2019s been paroled into the United States
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A conditional entrant granted before 1980
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Battered spouse, child, or parent
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A trafficking victim and his or her spouse, child, sibling, or parent
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Someone who\u2019s been granted Withholding of Deportation or Withholding of Removal, per immigration laws or the Convention Against Torture (CAT)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A person with non-immigrant status (this includes worker visas, student visas, U-visa, T-visa, other visas, and citizens of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Someone who\u2019s been granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Deferred Enforced Departure (DED)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Deferred Action Status (Except Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals [DACA])
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Lawful Temporary Resident
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Someone whose removal has been stayed by the Department of Homeland Security
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Federally recognized Indian tribe member or American Indian born in Canada
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0American Samoa resident<\/p>\n

You may also be able to buy health insurance during the Open Enrollment<\/a> period if you applied for one of the following:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Temporary Protected Status with Employment Authorization
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Special Immigrant Juvenile Status
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Trafficking Victim Visa
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0LPR Status Adjustment
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Asylum (if your employment authorization was granted or if you\u2019re under 14 and your application has been pending for 180 days or longer)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Withholding of Deportation, per immigration laws or CAT<\/p>\n

You\u2019re also eligible to buy health insurance if your employment authorization was granted and you\u2019re an immigrant with one of the following statuses:<\/p>\n

\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Order of Supervision
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Applicant for Cancellation of Removal or Suspension of Deportation

\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Legalization per the LIFE Act<\/p>\n

Necessary Documentation<\/strong><\/p>\n

The documents you will need will depend upon your immigration status, but you should be prepared to show one or more of the following if you sign up for Obamacare:<\/p>\n

\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Alien registration number, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services number, or 1-94 number<\/p>\n
